This year, for the first time, competition for two different trophies was organised in a single tournament. In that tournament, 77 games were played by 28 different members. The range of games played by any individual was from 1 to 17.
This cup is awarded to the player who has scored the most points in the competition. It was won by quite a margin by Alan Fraser with a score of 13.5 out of 17. The runners up were Alan Sands with 9/10 and John Lewin with 8/11.
This annual 5 minute handicapped quick play tournament took place on June 27th. 19 members took part. The clear winner [with one round to spare] was Mark Ruston.
This annual fixture usually takes place at the beginning of the season and is an opportunity for lower graded players to hone their skills in preparation for the season proper. There were 14 boards this year and the club won the competition by 10 games to 4 - although such a margin of victory was by no means likely until near the end of the match.
